Ford Stopped Aluminum Jaguar Development

Added on 03-17-2006
New Jaguars will not be manufactured in aluminum body-type. According to the decision of Ford Company, which owns Jaguar, British cars will be unified with other Ford models and gain traditional steel bodies.

In fact, aluminum bodies for Jaguars were expected as presage for brand revival. Jaguar leaders were planning to win over this way BMW and Mercedes customers though Jaguar is still one of the most financially unprofitable subdivisions of Ford.

Jaguar used to manufacture two models with aluminum body-type – XJ and XK and in addition the company was planning to launch new S-type model generation in aluminum body but Ford leaders considers them financially unreasonable so new S-type will probably be constructed on one of existing Ford platforms.
