The American Nissan Motor Co. office officially announced that manufacturing plan for spring and summer of 2006 was cut for 18 000 automobiles. The reason for the decision came the necessity of selling out the Nissan cars issued but collected at storage facilities in considerable numbers. To carry out the new plan Nissan will stop manufacturing at three American factories in Smirna, Dekerd (Tennessee) and Canton (Missouri). As a fact last week the production at the factories was out of line on Friday. Then on May, 26 will be another production stoppage. And finally the rest 4 days of calm will be added to traditional annual summer holidays period.
Another factor of the decision occurred the Nissan sales rate in US market in the first quarter of 2006 marked the 1% decrease compared to 2005 level. Nevertheless the company officials state that Nissan Altima model will provide enough sales volume so that to preserve gross Nissan cars market till the end of 2006. Robert Lutz, the GM vice-president still stressed recently that Chevrolet Impala replaced Nissan Altima from US-scale most sold car model third position given two first occupied by Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
