Fiat being one of sponsors of hydrogen automobiles exhibition in Torino introduced there its hydrogen model – Panda – prototype of fuel-cell vehicle (FCV). This hydrogen panda can work without accumulator batteries – using 3 compact fuel-cells under floor only. They are arranged so that don’t take room of inner compartment and trunk.
Power of new Panda perfectly fits city cycle driving having 0-50 km/h acceleration 5 seconds given 63 h/p engine power capacity while the car’s distance capability is over 200 km and cells charging takes 5 minutes only!
Previously Fiat was demonstrating its Seicento Elettra H2 Fuel Cell and Seicento Hydrogen models but those were quite draft versions.
This year Fiat plans to test new hydrogen panda in several towns of Italy though according to official allegation the company will start selling new model in 15-20 years only.
