Melkus Revived its Legendary RS1000 Model

Melkus, German car manufacturer will celebrate its 50th anniversary by issuing remake version of its classical RS1000model in 10 automobiles lot.
In fact, RS 1000 model – 1979 prototype – will be constructed with full correspondence to original both – in exterior and in technical stuffing. This model with “broken”-like silhouette and wing doors will be equipped with 3-cylinder push-pull engine-type producing 70 h/p in road version and 90 h/p in racing one.

Remarkably that each RS1000 customer will be allowed to choose the color for his retro-car as well as interior design and features package. First cars will be constructed in May, 2006. There is also information that Melkus intends to revive the model under new name of RS2000 with body of RS1000 and new engine modifications.

Melkus Company founded – Heinz Melkus - was dealing with racing and road cars manufacturing between 1959 and 1986. Automobile designed by Melkus were participating F-3, F-junior and F-Easter racing events.

RS1000 model came as realization of founder’s dreams who wanted to construct a model fitting both – racing and road conditions. In fact, RS 1000 was manufactured between 1969 and 1979 experiencing several restyling procedures. Total number of cars produced amounted to nearly one hundred.
