i-model from Mitsubishi

The Mitsubishi Motors launched its new i minicar. The car is based on a newly developed platform with an original rear-midship layout. The rear-midship layout allows the front wheels to be placed as far forward as possible.

The i uses a new 3-cylinder, 6.6 lit, 63hp turbocharged engine with variable valve timing and with a torque of 94 Nm, coupled with a four-speed automatic gear box. The car fuel consumption is 43.3mpg in the toward model and 42.3mpg in the forward version. The Britains Mitsubishi plans to sell 5,000 units per month.
The car’s price is about US$ 16,000.
