Isuzu To Be Launched In Ulyanovsk

Isuzu Motor Corporation launches commercial truck production in Ulyanovsk, Russia. According to Isuzu press-release the Corporation plans to assemble 500 ELF light-duty commercial trucks (NQR71) during this year with 10,000 v/y increase within the coming three-year period. In the near future Isuzu intends to raise sales to 30,000 units per year.
The truck assembly agreement was signed by the Isuzu Motor Corporation and SVAV - the UAZ main shareholder - in 2006. The trucks will be marketed and sold under Isuzu brand. Lately, the Russian automotive market has become more attractive for Japanese companies. At the present time the Toyota plant is under construction in Saint-Petersburg. Nissan Motor Co - another Japanese car manufacturer - has also declared plans for constructing a plant in Russia.
