Increased power capacity urged constructors to remove its 20 mm in diameter cardan shaft for 25 mm. In fact 924 Turbo could achieve 225 km/h as top speed and 100 km/h speed in 7.8 sec. In addition Turbo consumed fuel 0.3 liter per 10 km less than basic model. Porsche 924/924 Turbo was manufactured not at Zuffenhausen but at Neckarsulm plant purchased in 1970s by Volkswagen that’s why the quality of automobiles was not superb at all.
Such effects as body crunches and jingling or steering rods backlash were a problems of many 924. In addition mufflers manufactured by Audi and arranged on Porsche 924 burnt through in short period. In response given all described Porsche had to intensified quality control but finally technical drawbacks compelled the company in 1986 to remove unreliable Audi 100 engine for 2.5 4cylinder inline power unit with 150 h/p which in reality was just half part of Porsche 928S 8-cylinder engine. New engine enable Porsche 924 to reach 215 km/h and accelerate to 100 km/h in 8.5 sec. Till 1991 Porsche 924 was manufactured in this version when manufacturing was stopped.
