FERRARI
Ferrari Italian company specializing in manufacturing racing and elite cars. Since 1989 is daughter enterprise of Fiat Concern. Headquarters in Maranello (Italy).Ferrari was founded in 1939 by Enzo Ferrari, famous racer and car investigator of Alfa Romeo automobiles. Initially the company was bearing the name of Auto Avio Costruzioni and was producing various parts and equipment for automobiles. First car made by Ferrari were manufactured with Alfa Romeo name as Enzo Ferrari signed an agreement with Alfa Romeo.
The first automobile which was bearing the name of Ferrari was 125 model, it appeared in 1946. Ferrari 125 had powerful
12-cylinder aluminum engine and reflected the main concept of Enzo Ferrari to create pure racing car with simple road car comfort. Prancing stallion on yellow plate was adopted by Enzo Ferrari as his company trademark.In 1947 Ferrari constructed second engine model 1995 cc, which was installed in new Ferrari 166 model. Next year in 1948 recently appeared Ferrari racing team won in Mille-Milia and Targa-Florio races. In 1949 Ferrari became the triumpher of the same races and added the victory in 24 LeMans race.
1951 is marked by constructing of Ferrari 340 America with 4.1 engine initially developed for Ferrari GT. In 1953 Ferrari 340 America gained new more powerful engine with 4500 cc and new name- 375 America. The same year later Ferrari introduced 250 Europa with 3.0 engine.
On the whole by 1954 Enzo Ferrari manufactured near 200 exclusive road cars and 250 pure racing cars. Constructing road models Enzo Ferrari collaborated with different car body design ateliers as he desired to produce dissimilar and unlike models.
Nevertheless Ferrari 250 GT of 1954 set the ground for long-term and fruitful cooperation with Pininfarina company. Pininfarina managed to build its car bodies better than the rest better than the rest to Ferrari short-base chassis given rear driving-axle was suspended on springs.
Remarkably 250 GT model was manufactured in coupe and cabriole variants; and appeared in 1959 250 GT California manufactured though custom became the example of open 250 GT model sportive type. In 1958 Pininfarina created for 250 GT model new bodies with angular lines. In 1966 Ferrari devised new V12 engine pure sportive, 4-camed, with two camshafts for each cylinder-head, dry sump lubrication, provided high torque and versatility producing 300 h/p.
In 1968 Ferrari issued legendary Daytona model (365 GTB/4), with front 4.4 V12 engine location, 352 h/p capacity launching this Ferrari model up to 282 km/h. This model though unpretentious and functional in exterior was indeed the fastest car on the time.In early 1970s Ferrari Dino was constructed in the name of Commendatores died son. Appeared in 1971 Ferrari 365GT4 or Berlinetta Boxer had many racing cars features: its engine was arranged mid horizontally, gearbox under engine to ensure more reasonable room of car body using. Basing on Ferrari 308GT4 and Pininfarina car bodies the company was constructing various elegant models set up with V8 engines. Those Ferraris were thrilling minds and attracting customers till early 80s.
When constructors set up horizontal V12 Boxer engine of Ferrari 512BB on new Testarossa they gained massive heavy car responding to highest demands of racers and star clients. Vivid and bright guise of Testarossa designed by Pininfarina was bearing the distillation of advertising spirit and aesthetic sense. Ribbed side air intakes, side radiators instead of front were astonishing features so that many car manufacturers were seeking to copy Ferrari Testarossa. In 1987 companys founder Enzo Ferrari took the leadership over designer developing team focused on inventing Ferrari F40 model alleged to be the crown of all company ideas and achievements. The roots of Ferrari F40 came from GTO model of 1984 and at first look had many common similar features with Ferrari 308 GTB but in fact F40 brought essential technical innovations including turbo supercharger, lengthwise fitted V-8 engine (on tubular frame, enforced by kevlar bearing panels), extra super power capacity of 478 h/p all mentioned proved that new F40 preserved from 308 GTB model configuration only.The body of this Ferrari supermodel was performed of carbon fiber and kevlar; its small inner compartment fully ensured sportive temper of the model as F40 package features didnt include seats adjustment. In May, 1994 Ferrari F355 appeared sportive successor of 348GTB/GTS and the most cheap and popular in Ferrari model line-up designed as well by Pininfarina.
In spring 1995 Ferrari issued Spyder cabriole model, Berlinetta coupe body model and GTS coupe-convertible. F1 modification stood out for racing transmission control. In summer 1997 Berlinetta was put off the production.
July, 20, 1996 is the date of Ferrari Maranello debut. This model designed by Pininfarina car body atelier came as Testarossa/512 successor and was constructed on 456GT base.Three years after in 1999 Ferrari introduced at Geneva International Auto Show the successor for F355 Berlinetta 360 Modena model.
In 2003 Ferrari constructed the most imposing and great model of all time dedicated to its founder Enzo Ferrari and the model gained the name of
Enzo. Enzo Ferrari occurred the most powerful car in Europe and was aimed at demonstrating companys leading positions in car construction proved by wins in Formula 1.
