Part Two “Passenger Cars”

Since September 1967 Factory began outputting more modernistic model “Moscvich-412”, this car has more powerful engine, improved comfortablability and better-looking body. In addition they installed hydraulic-booster of brakes. In 1968 factory changed name..it was called AZLK (That is mean Auto Factory of Lenin’s Komsomol). At the end of 1969 bodes of cars had intense alterations. They used square headlights and horizontal tail lights with separate triangular turn signals. Series “Moskvich-408” and “Moskvich-412” where stopped in 1975. Since that time they hadn’t any attempts in producing off-roads fuel-efficient cars and they have produced only passenger class cars. So here is short list of them.

In January 1976 they began produced “Moskvich-2140” and “Moskvich-2138”. Last half of 1981 was produced “Moskvich-2140SL”. In 1986 appeared “Moskvich-2141” it had export’s brand name “Aleko”. Main changes were: first wheel drive, hatchback body and engines as firs VAZ-2106-70 V-1.6 cubic and later UZAM-331.10 V-1.5 cubic (modification 2142), also it has five-step gearset (perfect -01 later). In 1993-1994 model 2141 got diesel engines “Ford” “Moskvich-21411” and so on diesel engine UZAM-3317.10 V-1.7 named “Moskvich-214122”, with UZAM-3313.10 V-1.8 began equipped -214123 modifications that had contact-free starter system. In 1994 there were bad times.. the factory almost stopped its existence and they were producing a few autos. Since 1995 they rebuilt their reputation and in 1997 besides 2141 series they produced new line “Moskvich-214102-164” (later called “Moskvich 214145 Svatogor” standard set included foreign details of undercarriage and powerful “Renault F32” engine V-2.0 cubic with injector fuel feeding. Moreover they produced “Moskvich-214141 Juriy Dolgorukiy” that differs with longer back doors. In additional the factory delivers sedans of representative class it is “Moskvich 214241 Knyaz Vladimir” and “Moskvich 214242 Ivan Kalita”. In bounded amount they produce two doors coupe “Moskvich-2142S7 Duet” at the base “Ivan Kalita” and “Moskvich-2142S0 Duet-2” base “Knyaz Vladimir”

So may be they hadn’t much things they can proud. But still they have great history and I want to believe the same future.
