Ford, 2001, Mondeo Hatchback GLX 5dr Auto 4sp 2.0i
As any car this car has disadvantages. But in my humble opinion there are some disadvantages that are not real… I mean that some kind of preferences that depend on personal habits and stereotypes. I am an auto mechanic and under my work I had to deal with various cars and writing this car story I know what is the point of the matter.
FRom professional point of view this Ford’s model has short list of real disadvantages:
- There absent level indicator of washing liquid.
- Not thought-out managing of short-term high-beam switching.
- Unsuccessful location of ash-tray.
- Bad rear visibility, especially when you parking a car.
- And the last is weak crank case made of aluminum.
The list of its advantages is much longer. And this really lets me enjoy my Mondeo!
- One of the most powerful 2.0L aero engine (145hp) in addition quite economical – something about 22 miles for gallon in city.
- Wide opening doors for almost ninety degrees.
- Ideal ergonomic includes non disturbing dashboard light, electric adjusted seats with waist support and adjusted steering column. I'm never tired of driving it - no matter how long my trip is.
- Spacious passenger compartment, in my opinion now this car has the most roomy inner in its price class. I have hatchback body type.
- Superb made suspension. Especially I like rear independent quadra links system that provides passive rear wheels steering.
- Big wheels – R 16’.
- Successful construction of door handles and high quality packing material.
- My car equipped with manual gearbox really it is better than automatic that Ford supplies for these cars
- Scheduled engineering time is executed every 12000 miles.
I tasted many automobiles Mondeo class like. It was Citroen C5, Volkswagen Passat and Mitsubishi Galant for many characteristics Mondeo is better. The real rivals is new Opel Vectra and Nissan Primera I can say nothing about these models because I haven’t tried‘em yet. But the same as Mondeo equipped its price is higher at 15 – 20 %.
In my car story I don’t want to ode Ford’s vehicles and let down others. I just noticed that its models Mondeo and Focus are not bad and worth to draw your attention.
