Added 1651 storyThis car in my opinion is one of successful models of Renault. My car is 1997 model one of the first. It's equipped with economical and quite powerful 1.6 8V engine that is very simple and reliable. There are also 2.0L equipped modifications but there are almost no differences between them. And 1.6 is suitable as much as I need. It gives better work at higher than 3 000rpm. And there is almost no noise. My car in addition had simple suspension and roomy passenger compartment. I sold it just half year ago. Now I have Modus - the Renault’s car too. I posted here story about it already. Well other advantages of my car, I mean old one Scenic, it is rust proofed bottom.
One weakness of this model is chassis. You need swapping shock absorbers in average every 25 000 miles it does not mean that they have low quality just body slightly overweight of shock absorbers. But brakes are superb and they indemn for absorbers' lacks. I didn’t expect when I purchased it that such wagon type body automobile could have such driveability. It can be comparable with passenger class automobiles.
What was done for all that time I've been owning it? The scheduled maintenance was done every 9 000 miles only in official repair shop. I had been running about 20 000 miles per year. Accidentally once I broke gearbox shell and had to repair it and once clutch was jammed this is all for eight years of owning. And again, I wrote it in my previous car story. Scenic as my current Modus is not a fast car, they both are comfortable subcompact class cars for family.
