Good old Landrover: a desert ride

My uncle Jacob has a Range Rover II. It's V8 2-valves per cylinder engine, 4-liter cubic displacement; it has electronic air-suspension, viscous-coupling transfer-case and electronic-traction control. The car is 10 y/o, and it's still high-powered and doesn't require often repairs.
Once my uncle took me for a ride to a desert area on his car. Actually he had to visit a ranch located beyond the a desert spur, and the optimal path was through the desert.
The heat outside was unbearable and the surface was ardent gravel, but the Range Rover took such a dare easily. We managed to cross it in an hour driving fast and not even noticing the heat inside its isolated cabin.
