I was lucky with my Volkswagen Passat
surprise
Added 2 storiesMy car is Volswagen Passat 2.0 diesel. Initially I posted here story about my car with description and pictures. It's an estate.
Recently I nearly got into some road trouble. I was going on the highway, as usually, I often make long business trips in my car of 250-300 km. It was snowing, the road started to get covered with slippery but I'm well experienced and never felt problems. I came home but suddenly I noticed my car's rear right wheels is a bit curved. I pushed it and what do you think it was loose!! That' was a real surprise. It looked to be ready to turn off the axle! I understood that I was lucky that it hadn't. I checked the screw nuts, they were ok, when I turned them off I revealed the rear ball bearings broken and the disk was loosely moving from the hub. I decided to leave the repairs for the next day...
In the morning I started out to the maintenance shop, purchased new ball bearings, shock absorbers for rear, installed them all, spent the whole day on driving around just make break in and get assured of the intactness. Finally everything was quite o.k. with my car and I found it reasonable to go on with my business.
