I purchased my Swedish Saab beauty in September 2002 for $40,000. However expensive it may seem, this original European vehicle was the best choice. This Aero 9-5 model is a sporty sedan with an engine both powerful and economic. It's a 2,290 cc turbocharged dohc with 4 cylinders (4 valves per cylinder) containing 250 wild horses making 258 lbft torque (at 1900 rmp). Its fuel economy characteristics is around 30 mpg for highways, 22 mpg for city side. I usually drive it around Stockholm, so I cannot make a big advantage of its velocity. This model has a front drive train and a 5-speed manual gearbox, plus independent suspension and disk brakes providing both comfortable and secure driving.

Basically my Saab is my idea of a sedan because of its superb engine, impressive looks and cozy leather-and-wood saloon equipped with a convenient air-conditioner, a powerful 5-speaker stereosystem, heated power seats and secure 3-point safety belts. When the 9-5 Aero model was developed, it was checked through various safety tests, and showed highest safety rates.

And indeed, my car is very reliable and safe. Last December I was driving in country-side along a forest highway, it was snowing heavily and I could hardly see the road ahead. The road was a pretty straight empty highway, so I drove rather fast, about 100 mph (btw, my Saab's max speed is 150 mph). Suddenly I caught a glimpse of something metal ahead. I hit the brakes and my car stopped only several feet in front of this obstacle. It was a massive road sign reading "No hunting zone!". Its pole had probably broken because of heavy snow layer and the sign blocked the road line. If my Saab's didn't have such a reliable braking system and great safety belts I would definitely have to pay much money repairing my cowling and suffer a face trauma.
